100km In
Target - 250km
Achieved - 106.5km
Remaining - 143.5km
It feels so good to break the 100km barrier which is a little odd if I think about it. It's not much more than 1/3 of the way and isn't half way yet but somehow I'm in a state of achievement. Meh, I'll take any sense of happiness at this point. I also got the all clear from the organisers for my interrupted mileage, they're happy to take me at my word since I knew I'd pre-mapped my route and timed myself using the home clock. As I said to them, it's not as though I'm looking to break any records.
While I'm pleased with my progress I know there's still a way to go and I've felt little aches and pains along the way, mainly in my thighs and shins but today I had a bit of a floater. It popped up in various places, never long or painful enough for me to really care but definitely something to keep an eye on.
Most importantly I was able to indulge in a giant T-bone steak last night. Best steak I've ever had and I'm fairly certain about that. Another one is due this Friday that's ever so slightly bigger. Phwoar. I have a tendency to drink on a Friday night but, following the last bout of liquid happiness, I have forgone any more and plan to do so for the rest of the run. I would like to say I don't miss it but I know I will tonight when I'm chugging away at my second glass of diet cola flavoured soft drink. Still, I know it's not forever.
Great news has come in from Australia that the team running over there has finished already! A phenomenal feat. I think the end results are going to start coming in from now as I noticed a few keen ultramarathoners putting in 40-50km times on the first day. Yikes. I will not be put off my plan though, it's working a treat.
